Urban Art, Food & Libations Walking Tour in Sacramento

By Dawnie January 18, 2014

If you are a foodie with a passion for being creative inside and outside of your kitchen then come explore with us on this wonderful journey!  Our Urban Art, Food & Libations Walking Tour will be taking participants down alleyways, behind corners and thru one-way streets to view and learn about local urban art murals in the Midtown area of Sacramento.  Along the way we will be popping in to visit a few of Sacramento’s excellent wine and port tasting rooms to tantalize your palate.  Looking for a way to fill your belly on this tour?  Our culinary concierge will be guiding the group in and out of local mom and pop eateries and bakeries while taking in the beautiful sights and sounds of this truly hidden gem area.  Combine all the ingredients and you have the recipe for a fun-filling and educational experience.

Midtown is known for their arts district but what lies on the exterior walls tells a story at each stop.  Sacramento is noted for their urban art – learning the details behind how the murals were created and the story behind each setting is a cool way to learn about Sacramento’s art scene.  Learn about one local artist’s passion while viewing her art mural, hear the story on how long, what type of paints were used and where she got her vision to draw a mural that took well over 2 months to paint on the tour…..one of the many fun and interesting stories!  Our Urban Art, Food & Libations Walking Tour last 3.5 hours and will be offered Thursdays and Saturdays thru the winter season.  Our first tour launches January 18th, 2014.  You don’t want to miss out!  Click Here to Purchase Tickets Online

The food scene in Sacramento is growing leaps and bounds.  We seek out the local chefs who are passionate about resourcing their ingredients from local farms in our bountiful agriculture area.  We love to get up close and personal with the chefs and owners on our walking food tours.  Participants have the opportunity to meet the chefs, ask them all their dirty details about how they make such flavorful and fresh menu items and learn about their story.  The tour route will take participants to 6 to 7 stops in the 3.5 hour tour time frame.  Tasting and savoring each bite with pairings of local wines, ports and beers!  Doesn’t that sound refreshing?

Urban Art, Food & Libations Tour is our newest tour,  lasting approximately 3.5 hours with a walking distance under 3 miles – all flat terrain.  Local Roots Food Tours limits Urban Art, Food & Libations group size to no more than 12 individuals to keep the experience small and intimate.  Special dietary needs can be met with prior notice.

Though subject to change, Typical tastings on our tour include:

  • Crafted montego cheese and parma ham crouqette tapa
  • Special wine and cheese pairing from local venues
